The developers of the WavePlayer music player for the Mac OS X operating system include Pitchwheel software. In 2006, they added VAPO (Virtual Analog Polyphonic Oscillator) synthesis as well. The plugin was released under the name 'Wavetronica' as a part of their VAPO 3 library.

Information is stored in libraries. For example, the kernel stores information about loaded modules in /etc/modules, while the kernel also handles the details of the IRQ subsystem through drivers.
Information is also stored in libraries to provide services to applications that don't care about the details of the implementation, like process management or file system I/O.
